Ajith sizzles as don

The suspense is finally over. The hype and hoopla has receded as the first show of Billa 2 is done and dusted. The question that immediately pops up in one's mind is whether the movie is worth a watch? Does it match its first part? The answer could be a yes, but partially.

Billa 2 is a prequel to Ajith's 2007 film Billa which was directed by Vishnuvardhan. The new edition is directed by Chakri Toleti who has wielded the megaphone for Unnaipol Oruvan.The film traces the history of a dreaded gangster David Billa and finds out the reasons behind his transformation from an ordinary man to a warlord.

Pravathy Omnakuttan and Bruna Abdullah play female leads while Bollywood stars Sudhanshu Pandey and Vidyuth Jamwal are cast as baddies. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by R D Rajasekar.The movie relies heavily on Ajith. With a wafer-thin storyline, at places events unfold quickly to sustain our interest. Produced by Sunir Khetarpal, George Pius and Suresh Balajee, Billa 2 is strictly for Ajith fans

Story

David Billa (Ajith) a Lankan refugee comes to a camp in Rameshwaram.He fights against injustice in the refugee camp.Now he comes across a few mafias and tries to become one. Slowly he moves towards achieving his mission and meets Abbasi (Sudhanshu Pandey) in Goa. Abbasi is a dreaded mafia don. Billa manages to win his patronage and makes trip to Georgia to meet an international don Dmitri (Vidyut Jamwal). As it happens, the rise of Billa creates a rift in between him Billa and Abbasi. Now Billa decides to announce his arrival.Several hurdles come his way including Dmitri himself. How he accomplished the task is the rest.

Performance

Ajith shoulders the burden as he did in the first part. He is at ease playing a baddie. It is no easy task to do such a character, but he does it well. Especially the climax stunt sequence is a treat for Ajith fans.Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah seem to play cameos. They come and disappear.Sudhanshu and Vidyut are majestic and have terrific screen presence. Also the film has Ilavarasu, Manoj K Jayan and Rahman.

Technicalities

Rajasekhar's camera speaks a lot in Billa 2. Be it Goa, Chennai or Georgia, he captures them well. Yuvan's music is a letdown. He manages to bring solace with his background score. Dialogues by Era Murugan are worth to listen. 'Mathavanoda Bayam dan nambaloda Balam is one of the highlights.Selva's art works are authentic.

Analysis

It is a triucky tale for the story is wafer-thin. But Chakri has ensured that events unfold at quick pace. Sadly more brawny and less brainy, Billa 2 sparkles in moments. It is a thorough entertainer for Ajith fans.

Emi Jackson Appointed Shankar's Film

After Samantha chose to quit from director Shankar's I, speculations were rife as to who would play the female lead in the mega venture opposite Vikram.

The movie produced by Aascar V Ravichandran features Vikram, Suresh Gopi, Prakjashraj, Santhana, Ramkumar Sivaji among others in the lead. Music is by A R Rahman and cinematography by P C Sreeram.

After Samantha chose to quit from the movie, Shankar was couting for an alternative. Buzz is that Samantha would be replaced by Amy Jackson.

Amy Jackson who impressed one and all in A L Vijay's Madarasapattinam is currently shooting with

Vikram for Thandavam. Reportedly both share a good rapport.However a final confirmation is awaited from Shankar.

David Billa Trailer Launch Postponed

With just a couple of week left for the release of Billa 2, plans were on to release the trailer of the movie in a grand function in Chennai on 2 July. Confirmed sources say that the event has been postponed. But reasons are unknown.

The movie directed by Chakri Toleti features Ajith, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Vidyuth Jamwal in lead roles. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The movie has been censored recently and given a certificate. The film would be released all across Tamilnadu by Aascar V Ravichandran.

Sources say the trailer, a fresh one was supposed to be launched today in Sathyam Cinemas. However now it is revealed that it has been postponed. Expectations are high among Ajith fans for the movie.

AR Rahman composes for 2012 Olympics

A R Rahman has made a name for himself in Hollywood working with Danny Boyle.

Their first collaboration on 2008's Slumdog Millionaire won Rahman two Oscars including Best Original Score and Best Song.

While promoting his most recently Hollywood score in People Like Us, Rahman revealed that he would be composing part of the score Boyle is using in the 2012 summer Olympics.

'I’m already doing a track for him for the Olympics' Rahman said when asked if he thought he and Boyle would work together in the future.

'It’s one of the songs for the opening ceremony. It’s a secret.'

Boyle’s preparations for the opening ceremony have been the subject of much media attention in recent weeks.

The three-hour long extravaganza will be called Isles of Wonder and is inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

Paul McCartney has already confirmed his involvement in the production, and the electronic band Underworld will be writing original music for the opening ceremony as well.

Underworld composed the music for Boyle’s stage version of Frankenstein, which was performed at the Royal National Theatre in 2011.

Billa 2 to rock over 1200 screens Worldwide Including Sri Lanka.

Sunir Kheterpal the Producer officially announced that ‘Ajith's Billa 2 will release in 1200 plus screens worldwide on 13 July. 

The shooting of the movie took place for a sum of 103 days across Hyderabad, Vizag, Goa, Mumbai, Kashid, Gerogia, UK, Canada, Sri Lanka And USA.

Also Billa 2 will lead 1st position breaking down all previous records with a score of 1200 plus screens worldwide.

Thandavam Movie is an Action Thriller

Director AL Vijay and Vikram have come together for Thandavam and they have completed shooting major portion of the movie in London. 

Says sources, 'it is an action film unlike their last Deivathirumagal'. It is the story of a youth who is down-and-out and how he bounces back to take revenge on the worng-doers form the crux'. 

On his part Vijay, says, ' it is the desire for every filmmaker to work with Vikram and my dream became a reality with Deivathirumagal. 

We share a good rappot and we have ensured that Thandavam is biger than our last'.

Mugamoodi Trailer Release On June 29

Mugamoodi starring Jiiva and directed by Mysskin is all complete and ready for release soon.

Directed by Mysskkin, the movie is a sper-hero subject.

Buzz is that the first look of Mugamoodi will be unveiled on 29 June.

Mugamoodi stars Jiiva, Pooja Hegde and Narain in the lead roles. Music is by K. Plans are on to release the movie this September.

The movie would have action-packed stunt sequences and all has gone well says sources in the unit.

Myskin is confident that the movie would do good and turn arclights on Jiiva.

Producer-singer-actor S P Charan was last seen in Va Quarter Cutting. He played a prominent role in the film.

Thuppaki Movie Title Trouble For Kallathuppaki

Vijay starer Thuppaki has run into trouble.

Following a petuition filed by director Yogidas of Kallathuppaki, a movie under-production that he had registered the title and completed a film and set for release.

The anouncement of the movie Thuppaki by AR Murugadoss starring Vijay will affect their prospects, a city courty stayed the release of Thuppaki under the same title till 16 July.

Thuppaki stars Vijay and Kajal Agarwal.

Kallathuppaki is directed by Yogidas and features all newcomers in the lead.

Pranitha makes it Big After Saguni

Young Pranitha is all happy for her recent release Saguni has made it big. 

The movie directed by Shankar Dayal, features Karthi is witnessing a bumper opening. Pranitha has worked in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada cinema.

Ajith works out for 5 hours in Gym

No wonder that he is fondly called as 'Thala' by his fans. The Man of Determination has once again proved that he will be there to make his fans happy at any cost.

This all started with the shooting of Vishnuvardhan project. Ajith who recently conveyed that being weighted makes him uncomfortable because of the sarcastic comments made behind him, has begun to exercise.

Not just for an hour or so, Thala Ajith has been working out in this mobil gym for about 5 long hours each day and the results where awesome says a excited Vishnuvardhan.

Earlier Ajith due to the surgeries has restricted himself from heavy work outs and even said that its paining like hell when he does particular exercises.

But despite of the pain, he has started working out in gym all for his fans.

Vishwaroopam Movie Make With 11.1 Surround Sound System

Kamal Hassan's much awaited Vishwaroopam will be released in select theaters in 11.1 surround sound.

Most theaters use 5.1 or 7.1 audio, which has three speakers in front, two on the side, and two in the back.

11.1 changes that up by putting up far more speakers at various heights in order to reproduce the audio dimension of height.

Since Vishwaroopam depicts intense action sequences, it’s an ideal candidate to test out the 11.1 system says the team.

Billa 2 Renamed As David Billa

When Ajith fans felt relieved after getting the official annoucement of Billa 2 release date. Here comes another problem.

Billa 2 which is said to be the first prequel in Indian Cinema will go for a title change. As per sources it has been renamed as 'David Billa' the character that Ajith is Donning.

Reasons are still unknown, earlier this was the title given to the Telugu version of Billa 2. Now it seems they have followed the same with the Tamil version.

Disabling the Aishwarya Dhanush next film for the job.

After winning accolades and some brickbats for her maiden directorial venture 3, Aishwarya R Dhanush, dasughter of Super Star Rajnikanth is all set to kickstart her next venture soon.

Says Aishwarya, 'am working on the script. Hope to start by end of this year.'

I want to put 100 percent as writer and director to ensure that the film turns out to be better than my previous one.

I don’t let the director in me overshadow the writer in me and vice versa, when I start directing the film, she says.
